House – Maison Darveau
This magnificent residence was built in 1925 after the disaster of the great fire of 1922, which almost entirely destroyed Nédélec. Its builder, the businessman Édouard Darveau, was the owner of a doors and windows factory and a skilled carpenter. He also had a talent for artistry.
Both the interior and exterior of this house are meticulously crafted with a pronounced attention to detail. The round turret with a concave roof alone represents a significant attraction. The Queen Anne style house, with its turret and gallery, the posts of which are covered with small handcrafted wooden slats, and the era of its construction are all very important elements. The sculpted cornices add to the value of this residence.
The Neo-Queen Anne style dates back to the late Victorian era. This type of residence was popular among bourgeois families between 1890 and 1914.
